Taft Chamber members to be sued for libel, slander, and defamation by Radio Brandy and its founder.
Libelous e-mails sent out by Taft Chamber members to fellow broadcasters & vendors as well as other chambers.
The offensive e-mails and phone calls may be a direct result of our opposition to the harsh treatment of poorly connected business owners received from the city of Taft. The Chamber's lack of involvement and support have been harmful to small businesses.
The Taft Chamber Executive Director, Charmayne Brooks, is very supportive of the Taft members who slandered Radio Brandy and its staff. She refused a presentation of documents that clearly prove the libelous statements made by members of the Taft Chamber.

Regarding the Tom Mayo e-mail many of you received, I think it clearly states this ambush on Radio Brandy is a result of us not joining the Chamber.
The Food Factor:
Tom's claim of giving us food is not exactly true. He gave the food etc. in exchange for some advertising, as we like to call it in radio "A Trade Out". Tom has received well over six months of advertising on our web site not to mention heavy radio advertising. I hate to break it to Tom but $179 and some pet food does not pay for six months of heavy advertising even on a part 15 station or network.

   Two well-placed Taft Chamber members have had about enough of Tom Mayo's "BIG MOUTH." He has repeatedly embarrassed these and other chamber members over the past year with his rants and raves. The two chamber members will provide documentation and signed statements Mayo makes about Radio Brandy or it's founder. This will greatly assist us in bringing about a successful  lawsuit against Tom Mayo and company.

A leading central coast newspaper did an article on Radio Brandy regarding it's problem with a few Taft Chamber Members. After looking over all the e-mails sent by Taft Chamber Member Tom Mayo, the reporter for the paper quickly realized that there was a real problem here. According to the reporter, with a background in law, one e-mail in particular would be an easy win in court.

Radio Brandy vacated Taft for business friendly Las Vegas. This will help us greatly expand services as well as offer Part 15 related equipment.
The Radio Campus will remain in Arizona just 90 miles from our Las Vegas facility. The Las Vegas studios will operate from a building provided by The Northstarr Group at low cost.

Taft Chamber Of Commerce may be included in Radio Brandy's lawsuit.
Radio Brandy has signed documents from other chambers in hand stating Tom Mayo made phone calls to them representing himself as being from the Taft Chamber of Commerce.
Radio Brandy has handed over the documents and e-mails to our legal team who are donating their services,  the e-mails clearly show Radio Brandy and it's founder were threatened with the destruction of our business if we did not join the Taft Chamber of Commerce. Within days of the threatening e-mails and our declining to join libelous e-mails and slanderous phone calls began to our clients, venders and fellow broadcasters as well as other Chambers.
Radio Brandy may not be the only one to face strong arm tactics from the Taft Chamber of Commerce. We have had several Taft business owners come forward who have also had a similar experence with the Taft Chamber.

Follow up about the assault on my own part 15 AM station in Taft, I can tell you first hand the one thing that kept me safe with the F.C.C in Taft was the fact all my Taft transmitters were Rangemaster "Type accepted". I knew I was protected from that angle of attack. Update: Taft growth has come to screeching halt, the word got out just how anti business Taft was. The fact that the city subsidized Chamber of Commerce has a major lawsuit to deal with has turned allot of future business away.
"The Mouth of Taft" Tom Mayo is now on food stamps, and his house value is negative $150,000 mortgaged to the hilt, the guy is not worth a dime. I guess when you spend your time trashing someone’s business bad things happen.
If you plan on selling airtime and making a profit with your station you better make your transmitter a Rangemaster. Because some low life scumbag is going to try and stop you, take it from me been there done that.
If you plan on doing it as a hobby or as a community station then you can get buy with an Sstran transmitter as many Radio Brandy affiliates use.
A daytime station with a poor signal in the area sold for just under a million bucks, You could buy 450 Rangemaster transmitters with sync and still have $100,000 left over for a very nice studio, links. I think Keith might even give you a discount on a purchase of 450 transmitters!and you thought Rangemasters were expensive!.

You have been warned not to contact me again with harassing e-mails. Nick should be upset with you for destroying a business that would have made us a nice income. In a short time Nick will get all his money back and then some, It was a business venture between us you destroyed not me. Regarding food stamps, I happen to be one person behind your wife at Save A Lot Foods last week when she made a food purchase using the card everyone on food stamps uses, If it was not hers you could be in allot more trouble than you think. I wrote down the date, time and register your wife used and provided it to my attorney as a matter of record. Tom according to county records you do not own your house, You have a mortgage on your house. your home has been refinanced several time to the point where legally your house has little or no value for the purposes of a lawsuit. As far as a successful lawsuit against me you don't have a leg to stand on, I suggest you get your facts together. According to my attorney you aren't worth suing despite the fact I have an excellent case against you..
You did make a mistake that has cost others to become liable, Because you contacted several of my business contacts representing yourself as calling on the behalf of the Taft Chamber of Commerce has exposed the Chamber and the city. A well respected city leader in Taft upon reading signed statements by those you contacted by phone and e-mail, as well as reading the e-mails you sent my clients strongly suggest I should go forward with the lawsuit. I now have four city leaders and six Taft Chamber members who think I have an excellent case against you, the City of Taft and the Taft Chamber of Commence that could be worth millions. Right after I got your unsolicited e-mails, I sent a copy of them to my legal council and they proceed with the lawsuit.
You should have kept your mouth shut, now it's going to cost you the city and the Chamber lots of time, money and negative publicity Taft can't afford. You have already cost Taft several job creating businesses who after learning of our story and reading your e-mails to my clients decided they wanted no part of Taft. Each business is grateful for my recommendation of another Kern County City that's business friendly. The new city is thankful I brought them over 150 good paying jobs that would otherwise ended up in Taft.

For those who have been following the story of Radio Brandy during our stay in Taft know about the Taft slug. The slug has resurfaced after taking the summer off; we have received e-mails from our fellow broadcasters he is back. Parasites like this can be hard to shake off.
The only thing we can do is stay proactive and document everything we can, I know as a broadcaster we are not the only ones having to deal with this, As Terry Keith Hammond will tell you these slugs don’t just go away nor can they be ignored. These slugs can do great damage to your business, especially from clients or vendor who don’t know the situation or are easily intimidated. Thankfully Taft and its civic leaders have a well-known reputation for destroying businesses that don’t conform or agree to join klan like groups. One-flower shop owners who tried to compete with the shop owned by a Taft kingpin found themselves under attack much the same way as Radio Brandy was. KTKR AM had its studio and transmitter site vandalized while the cops looked the other way. Taft does not want any media reporting on their shenanigans, like the gun store owner shooting himself in the back three times. Or the black guys committing suicide while handcuffed face down in the dirt. You know it happens all the time! Taft in the late seventies still had signs in town warning Blacks not to be caught in town after sunset. You can bet on the fact Taft is not the only city or town with skeletons in their closets. Taft's sister city Shamrock, Texas has just as many skeletons in their closet.
I have worked with other broadcasters who have managed to find such slugs; for the most part these slugs are uneducated, poor and have few assets at risk. Few lawyers want to take on cases where the outcome offers very little in return,
Upon deeper digging you will find these slugs are nothing more than mules for the rich and powerful types in town.
It helps explain why some broadcasters have such a hard time making it in smaller communities especially if they are perceived as outsiders as in the case of Terry or myself.
WC Walker writes about it in a column on the www.wilw.com site, some say its paranoia but others and I can tell you its not. If you are buying or setting up any business in a small town make sure you will be accepted. About the only businesses welcome in Taft are deep-pocketed sludge processors baring large gifts for city leaders.
Radio Stations and Newspapers these leaders don't control are a big threat to their way of life and doing business. The Newspaper knows not to make waves and doesn't. The local AM station was slow to learn and paid the price.
Radio Brandy reminded them to much of KTKR.

This is the typical story Taft civic leaders don't want aired:
In job starved Taft where the unemployment hovers around 11%, the civic leaders including the Taft Chamber of Commerce managed to chase away another job creating business. This time it was 150 jobs paying over $15 an hour plus benefits. The DVD duplicating facility owners met with hostile attitudes from the Chamber and city leaders. Could it be the new company was not barring large gifts like the sludge factory, which was welcomed with open arms while only adding 35 low paying jobs? or could it be Oil companies are the largest employers in the area, and don't want the competition from better paying companies.
Other businesses sent packing from Taft includes: A tire distribution warehouse, a bottling company and 100 $9hr jobs for a call center.

It might help explain why some stations can't make it in smaller communities regardless of power.

Radio Brandy Gets Censored
Tom Mayo has managed to get Radio Brandy censored on the Community Radio Board. It's hard to believe the power this uneducated man living on the dole yields, the cowards at Antubert.com caved in removing the Radio Brandy banner and studio photos removed from the gallery, others have also removed links to Radio Brandy from their sites do to the intimidating e-mails filled with libelous statements sent by Tom Mayo.
Radio Info will no longer allow us to make any references to Taft. our post on Oct 24 2005 was censored for no other reason than having Taft in the link as in Taftupdate.html No other city receives such special treatment on Community Radio Board.

Tom Mayo is a well known public figure in Kern County, earning himself the moniker "The Mouth of Taft" This former Skid Row bum, biker gang member has managed to gain undo influence
in Taft. he was instrumental in getting Taft's previous Mayor: Ray Hatch voted out of office by a landslide. How does Tom Mayo do it? Simple Tom Mayo is the ultimate brown noser, "Ass Kisser" as you know politicians melt with the phony praise reaped upon them. Tom Mayo is by far the best "Ass Kisser" I have ever met, and thats after working in Hollywood for years. He is smooth as glass and the local political leaders eat it up.
Do a Google search:Tom Mayo Taft, or Tom Mayo Taft chamber of commerce. His name comes up kissing someones back side at the Taft City Council meeting. Councilmen Paul Linder's name shows up getting his back side kissed by Tom Mayo. And to just think all the knives I remember Tom sticking in Councilmen Paul Linder's back when it was turned.
No worries, Paul still enjoyed the phony praise being reaped on him.
I know former Mayor Ray Hatch does not enjoy the back stabbing or the others in Taft that Tom has gone after. Let me make it clear Radio Brandy is not the only one Tom Mayo has gone after, just the only one that is fighting back!.

Radio Brandy to open Micro Broadcaster store in SW
This spring Radio Brandy plans on opening up a store front business for micro broadcasters, It will be stocked with everything a broadcaster needs from the studio to the antenna and everything in between. The store will be in a high traffic area in the South Western USA area. We will have working part 15 AM transmitters on display as well as antennas. The goal is to promote community radio though education and demonstration.

This is off topic a little, but I just checked out your site, and read about that Rat Tom Mayo, what a low life loser, I hope he is reading this board right now. Looks like that Azz Kisser has probably never Worked at a real job his whole life, and probably couldnt survive a day living a Middle Class Working mans life.    Matthew Kelley Brown, a retired farmer died August 19, 1999 he was 82. He was a Veteran of WWII and served as a MP in the Pacific, he was also a member of the First United Methodist Church.
   He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Brown of Taft; a brother, Robert Lee Brown (Bill) of Taft; a sister, Lucile Elliott (Roy) of Brookeland, Texas; a sister-in-law, Ruth Brown of Victoria and numerous nieces and nephews.
   Funeral Service will be Saturday August 21, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Taft with Rev. Douglas Hinchcliff officiating.
   Interment will follow at Taft Memorial Park Cemetery.
   Active Pallbearers will be Charles Henery Mayo, Tom Mayo, Billy Burch, Martin Hickman, Keith Guthrie, and Maynard Abrahams.
   In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Taft at 302 McIntyre, Taft, Texas 78390 or the National Kidney Foundation of Texas Coastal Bend P.O. Box 9172 Corpus Christi, Texas 78469.

Tom Mayo's criminal background check and credit report will be mailed out to Taft residence in mid December, complete with photo. The combination background check & credit report should enlighten Taft residence as to the type of person community leaders are dealing with. Funding for copying and mailing out the report is being paid for by concerned citizens of Taft, who are very upset by Tom Mayo, who continues to tarnish the community with his speaking for the rest of us attitude. Most Taft residence tell us they have little regard for the Taft Chamber of Commerce which many report does a poor job serving the business community as a whole. many businesses feel the Taft Chamber is only concerned with the Taft elite.
