Letter sent to the Yolo County officials by Susan Pelican
Subject: The Harassment of Brenda Cedarblade and Ted Wilson

I am writing to inform you of the constant and mounting harassment of Brenda Cedarblade and Ted Wilson, owners of the historic Nelson Ranch, who have filed a CEQA suit against Clark Pacific whose CUP for an industrial plant on agricultural land you approved unanimously last month.

Since the suit, individuals have invaded their home, ranch, and Brenda's store.
They have called Brenda to say that they have taken out "a hit" on her. They have stolen papers from the store in Woodland and from their home. They stole Brenda's camera out of her truck and took photos of their ranch which you can see at http://www.historicnelsonranchscandal.blogspot.com/  along with the publicizing of (false) personal financial information and the suggestion that their Conditional Use Permit be revoked, It must be noted that this link is featured on Supervisor Max Rexroad's web site.

Several days later, two individuals requested (from the Planning Department) that the Historic Nelson Ranch CUP be and an investigation is currently under way. Yolo County's investigation of their CUP conditions represents a selective enforcement of the rules to intimidate or deny these individuals their civil rights? In addition, Brenda and Ted have requested protection from this harassment from the Yolo County District Attorney and from the Sheriff's Department. Neither agency seems "able" to help. They say this is a civil, and not a criminal matter. Is not trespass criminal?? County agencies cannot place a restraining order, because Brenda has not given suitable identification of the vandals.

Brenda did get a photo of one trespassing vehicle, and the Sheriff's Department said it was a "fake" license plate. If so, is there to be no further investigation? Or was the license plate really fake? If someone called to announce they had taken out "a hit" on you-- would you say it is a civil matter? My friends visited Brenda and Ted's ranch this weekend and "found it to be in a state of siege." They did spot two sheriff's cars hidden nearby-- but it is unclear why they are there or what they are doing-- as they are NOT keeping trespassers off the property. I find this intimidation and harassment revolting and the county's (non) response alarming.

I am also concerned for Brenda's and Ted's home and health. We do not know for certain who all is behind this operation-- but if Yolo County or its agents are found to be at all involved, it has a very large liability-- especially if their is collusion to deprive Brenda and Ted of their civil rights. I am asking you to call for an internal investigation of County involvement and to tell all parties who may be involved (including Clark Pacific and the Laborer’s Union) to cease and desist immediately. I am requesting that the Sheriff patrol adequately and that the DA investigate and prosecute.

You can contact me and/or Don Mooney with a response.
If we do not hear from you by Thursday at noon we will assume that there is no response. Thank you.
