Steve
WE live in a county that allows its citizens speak freely on just about topic. My problem is I thought you and I were friends. Obviously I was wrong. Your problems with Mr. Mayo aren't mine. You praise Ray Hatch for his actions as the Mayor and in the next sentence you hammer the council for a bad attitude towards business. In the three years Mr. Hatch was on the council Taft was the only city in kern county with negative Growth. His leadership skills and his personal vendettas against some members of the community harmed many people.
You now chose to attack Me and the whole city council.
The fact is under the guidance of this council there will be at least 100 new homes in Taft this year. Your website is nothing more than an that a large pile of trash. I ask that you take all references to The Taft city council off your website. You should be ashamed of what your doing.I want no part of your vendetta against Tom Mayo. If you continue to question my character I will have my lawyer file a slander suit on you quicker than you can say childish that's what you are. This slander suit is not a threat its a promise. its a sad commentary on your character when you resort to spreading lies and hurting people that have done nothing against you.
Grow Up
Cliff
WE live in a county that allows its citizens speak freely on just about topic. My problem is I thought you and I were friends.
A friend of mine would never allow his friend, Tom Mayo, to trash a fine organization like Radio Brandy, that helps so many young people.
Obviously I was wrong.
Your problems with Mr. Mayo aren't mine.
Tom Mayo and you are not only very good friends but members of the Taft Chamber of Commerce.
As Mayor, and as a member of the Taft Chamber of Commerce, you could have put a stop to this relentless harrassment by Tom Mayo to the Radio Brandy students and staff if you wanted to.
You praise Ray Hatch for his actions as the Mayor
You show me where we praise Ray Hatch as mayor on the Radio Brandy website.
You can be a great man without being a great mayor. You can judge a man on how he treats children of all ages, his or not. In that regard, Ray Hatch is an outstanding man.
and in the next sentence you hammer the council for a bad attitude towards business.
Taft has a long standing reputation for being anti business. Visit Taft and you will see the new Taft welcome signs that are sponsored by Synagro, a sludge processing company.
The Taft Chamber Of Commerce is subsidized by the city of Taft. A taxpayer subsidy in which you voted on along with Craig Noble, both members of the Taft Chamber. Can we say conflict of interest??
Note: That vote came two weeks after Mayor Cliff Thompson was presented with letters his friend, Tom Mayo, had sent various clients and fellow broadcasters.. these were copies of the same letters handed to Taft Chamber Excutive Director Charmayne Brooks.
In the three years Mr. Hatch was on the council Taft was the only city in kern county with negative Growth. His leadership skills and his personal vendettas against some members of the community harmed many people.
You think allowing Taft Chamber Member Tom Mayo to continue to do what he does to Radio Brandy and its students causes no harm to people?
You now chose to attack Me and the whole city council.
Show Radio Brandy where your name comes up in a negative way on the Radio Brandy website.
The fact is under the guidance of this council there will be at least 100 new homes in Taft this year.
How many years and red tape did that take?
The fact is, under your leadership, well over 200 good paying jobs left Taft.
Your website is nothing more than an that a large pile of trash.
That is what a clueless Mayor Cliff Thompson says about Radio Brandy's Website.
.
I ask that you take all references to The Taft city council off your website.
NEVER:
You should be ashamed of what you're doing.
Ashamed! The Taft Chamber Of Commerce, of which you are a member, continues to allow Tom Mayo to slam Radio Brandy, now that is Shameful.
NOTE:: Radio Brandy requested the Taft Chamber Of Commerce to provide a letter distancing itself from Tom Mayo's actions. Excutive Director Charmayne Brooks and a Board Member refused. Again, on January 9th, 2006, Taft Councilman Craig Noble was asked to help put an end to the relentless harassment by Tom Mayo on the students of Radio Brandy. He refused. We do have a witness to vouch for us.
I want no part of your vendetta against Tom Mayo.
As Mayor, you have no problem with the vendetta your friends Tom Mayo and Taft Chamber Of Commerce Excutive Director Charmayne Brooks have launched on Radio Brandy.
Cliff Tompson, you and your close friend Taft Chamber Of Commerce Excutive Director Charmayne Brooks, had a chance to put this to bed last year. You were provided with just a small part of the evidence we gave against Tom Mayo. You promised you would handle it if we did not make it public. Instead, you chose to blow it off. Lets face it, Radio Brandy does not have the deep pockets Jeff Lockwood has. I know the actions you took would be much different if we had the deep pockets.
NOTE: Tom Mayo was instrumental in Taft's current Mayor's election.
If you continue to question my character I will have my lawyer file a slander suit on you quicker than you can say childish that's what you are.
Show us where your personal character is questioned on the Radio Brandy website. Don't forget, as Mayor of Taft, you are a public figure.
This slander suit is not a threat its a promise.
GO FOR IT!
Too many people in the radio business and on radio boards know what Taft Chamber member Tom Mayo
has been doing to Radio Brandy and its students, mind you, with a full blessing of a taxpayer subsidized Taft Chamber of Commerce.
its a sad commentary on your character when you resort to spreading lies and hurting people that have done nothing against you.
Mayor Cliff Thompson, you have no idea how many young people are harmed in drug infested Taft. They could not get a good paying job because of the number of businesses chased off by the attitude of the taxpayer subsidized Taft Chamber Of Commerece, and could not be helped because of your heartless friends Charmayne Brooks and Tom Mayo.
NOTE: Mayor Cliff Thompson never denounces the actions of fellow Chamber of Commerce member and close friend Tom Mayo. Those who have been following this in the radio boards know what Tom Mayo has been doing to Radio Brandy and its students since last year.
The following was emailed & posted on another radio station web site:
Quote from Taft California Chamber member Tom Mayo:
"i told them to join the chamber and they would not they chose to be negative and that's the reason for there problem"
e-mail received by a east coast broadcaster
That sounds like he is acting on the Taft Chamber of Commerce behalf to us.
And it also sounds like strong-arm tactics.
The General Manager Responds
I am the general manager of Radio Brandy and produce the website.
My family are third generation Taft residents. My family still runs a business in Taft, we know first hand how hard Taft is on businesses that are not connected. If I used my last name on this website, the powers of Taft would destroy their business in a heartbeat. We have seen it done time and time again.
Steve is no longer involved in Radio Brandy operations. However, he serves as our consultant when we build new studios. I don't know how we are going to get it through to Tom Mayo and the mayor. I will repeat one more time, I'm the General Manager of Radio Brandy, my staff and I write the posts on this website and others, not Steve. My late mother used to hang out with Taft's present mayor. I know a lot of things about the mayor that he would not want published. Our policy has been hands off the Taft Mayor as per our former General Manager's instructions. The e-mail from Mayor Cliff Thompson changes that. Up to this point, nothing negative has been written about Mayor Cliff Thompson on this website. In fact, his picture has been cropped out of photos associated with Tom Mayo.
I urge the mayor of Taft to get with his friend and fellow Taft Chamber Of Commerce member, Tom Mayo. The mayor of Taft needs to explain the harm he is doing, and to put a stop to the endless flow of libelous
e-mails and posts. With well over 400 e-mails and posts perhaps the mayor could find a better use of Tom Mayo's time.
